  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon for swirl
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon for topping
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1.5 cups of sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream, until just blended.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon. Spread the remaining batter over the top.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of cinnamon with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

This bread pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee or tea, and can also be served with a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
