Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, add onions and cook until tender.
Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, ham, and cheese.
Pour half of the sauce over layers and repeat.
Cover and bake for 50 minutes.
Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.
