Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef lean
  • 1 head green cabbage chopped
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the onion and garlic to the pot, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  • Stir in the chopped cabbage, tomato sauce, beef broth, salt, pepper, paprika, and uncooked rice. Mix well.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 30 minutes until rice is tender and cabbage is cooked.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Once cooked, sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top and serve hot.

Notes

You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat, if desired. This recipe is also delicious with a dollop of sour cream on top.
