Preparation Steps
In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
Gradually whisk in milk, making sure there are no lumps.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and starts to boil.
Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
Pour into individual serving dishes and chill until set, about 2 hours.
Notes
For a more intense flavor, use dark brown sugar instead.
