  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp cloves ground
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Place the apples in a slow cooker.
  • Add sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  • Cover and cook on low for about 10 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown.
  • Uncover and cook for 1 more hour.
  • Use an immersion blender to purée the apple butter until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, then allow to cool before transferring to airtight containers.

Notes

Apple butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or frozen for up to 1 year.
