  • 1 packet instant yeast approximately 2 1/4 teaspoons
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil plus extra for greasing
  • 0.75 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 cup sliced pepperoni optional
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano for garnish
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried basil for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Stir in olive oil and warm water until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch the dough down and roll it out onto a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  • Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce over the dough, and then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Add pepperoni slices, if using.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with dried oregano and basil. Slice and serve hot.
