  • 1.5 pounds ground beef lean
  • 1 packet frozen hashbrowns about 30 oz
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup 10.5 oz can
  • 1 cup sour cream full-fat
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef, cooking until the onion is translucent.
  • Mix in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Stir until well combined.
  • Spread frozen hashbrowns evenly in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with beef mixture.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the casserole.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining cup of cheddar cheese on top. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish with paprika before serving.

Notes

This dish can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours before baking.
