  • 1.5 pounds ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 4 buns hamburger buns split and toasted
  • 1 tablespoon butter softened
  • 0.5 cup sliced onion optional
  • 4 leaves lettuce optional
  • 4 slices tomato optional

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Form the beef mixture into 8 equal patties.
  • Cook the patties on the preheated griddle, 2 to 3 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
  • Spread butter on the inside of the buns and toast them on the griddle until golden.
  • Assemble burgers by placing two patties in each bun, topping with optional onions, lettuce, and tomato.

Notes

Serve with fries or a side salad for a complete meal.
