  • 1 lb Italian sausage cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter divided
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup heavy cream at room temperature
  • 0.5 lb pasta such as penne or fusilli
  • 0.25 tsp salt to taste
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper freshly ground, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add sausage pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in heavy cream, and bring to a simmer. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add cooked pasta and sausage back into the skillet, tossing to coat everything evenly with the creamy sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

This dish pairs well with a crisp green salad and a glass of white wine.
