  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For an extra special touch, drizzle cream cheese glaze over the cooled cookies.
