Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 2 cups chicken broth low sodium preferred
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour divided use
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Season the chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and brown the chicken thighs on both sides, about 4 minutes per side.
  • Transfer browned chicken to the crockpot. Add chicken broth and 0.5 cup of flour, whisking to combine and thicken the broth.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until chicken is tender.
  • About 15 minutes before serving, whisk heavy cream with remaining flour and stir into crockpot. Cook uncovered until gravy thickens.
  • Serve chicken with the creamy gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

For best results, use fresh chicken and homemade broth. Adjust seasonings to taste before serving.
