Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest freshly grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract, orange zest, and fresh orange juice. Mix well to combine.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a stronger orange flavor, add an extra teaspoon of orange zest or drizzle with an orange glaze once cooled.
