  • 4 pieces boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 cups bread cubes day-old or slightly stale
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups chicken broth low sodium
  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • In a bowl, mix bread cubes, celery, onion, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the melted butter and chicken broth over the bread mixture and stir well.
  • Spread the stuffing mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or until chicken is cooked through and stuffing is tender.
  • Remove chicken and shred it or slice; mix with stuffing before serving.

Notes

For a crispier top, transfer the stuffing to an oven-safe dish and bake at 375°F for 15 minutes after crockpot cooking.
