Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs preferably whole wheat
  • 1 cup chicken broth low sodium
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine breadcrumbs and chicken broth. Let stand for 5 minutes until the breadcrumbs have absorbed the liquid.
  • In a medium pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the sautéed onion and garlic to the breadcrumb mixture, along with sage, thyme, salt, pepper, beaten egg, and parsley. Mix well to combine.
  • Shape the mixture into balls, approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the stuffing balls are golden brown and heated through.
  • Serve warm as a delicious side dish or snack.

Notes

These stuffing balls can be made a day in advance and reheated in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes before serving. Feel free to add your own favorite herbs or spices to customize the flavor.
