Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions by combining the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until well combined.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake bakes, whisk the pudding mix with cold milk until it begins to thicken, then set aside.
Once the cake is out of the oven, immediately poke holes all over the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
Pour the prepared pudding over the hot cake, aiming to fill the holes. Spread the pudding evenly with a spatula.
Allow the cake to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least an hour.
For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it begins to simmer, then pour over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let sit for a minute before stirring to form a smooth ganache.
Spread the ganache over the chilled cake and refrigerate for another 20 minutes before serving.
Optionally, top with whipped topping before serving.
Notes
For an extra indulgent experience, serve with vanilla ice cream on the side.
