  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk room temperature
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan thoroughly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Carefully stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of chocolate ganache for extra indulgence. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
