  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets cut into small pieces
  • 3 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes for a bit of heat, optional

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the orzo and stir to coat the pasta with the oil and garlic.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  • Add the broccoli florets and reduce the heat to a simmer.
  • Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
