  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Gradually stir in milk until smooth.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and begins to boil. Boil for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract. Pour into pre-baked pie shell.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
