Instructions
Preparation Steps
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat eggs with milk and melted butter until combined.
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.
Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While baking, mix softened butter and honey to make honey butter topping.
Remove cornbread from oven, let cool slightly, then spread honey butter on top while warm.
Slice and serve warm for the best flavor.
Notes
This cornbread pairs exceptionally well with chili or a hearty stew. Store leftovers wrapped in foil at room temperature for up to 2 days.
