  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for the glaze
  • 2 tablespoons milk for the glaze
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract for the glaze

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated.
  • Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each well about 3/4 full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
  • Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Dip each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing any excess to drip off. Let glaze set before serving.

Notes

For an extra rich flavor, try using dark chocolate cocoa powder in the donut batter.
