  • Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to whisk as the mixture begins to thicken.
  • Once the sauce has thickened, reduce the heat to low and slowly add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly before serving with pretzels.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes.
