  • 4 pounds beef brisket trimmed of excess fat
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce your favorite brand
  • 8 pieces sandwich rolls split
  • 1 cup pickles sliced
  • 1 cup coleslaw optional

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Rub the brisket with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • Place the brisket in a roasting pan. Add beef broth and cover with foil.
  • Roast in the oven for 5-6 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
  • Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before shredding.
  • Toss the shredded brisket with barbecue sauce.
  • Assemble sandwiches with brisket, pickles, and coleslaw on sandwich rolls.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a dash of hot sauce to the barbecue sauce.
