  • 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 4 flour tortillas large
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup oil for frying
  • 0.25 cup whipped cream for garnish
  • 0.25 cup caramel sauce for drizzling

Preparation Steps

  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and cook until apples are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Warm the tortillas slightly to make them pliable. Divide the apple mixture among the tortillas, placing it in the center of each.
  • Roll up each tortilla tightly, folding in the sides to enclose the filling.
  • In a deep fryer or large skillet, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chimichangas until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with whipped cream and caramel sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra decadent treat.
