Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups broccoli florets
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Blanch broccoli florets in boiling salted water for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and transfer to an ice bath. Drain again and pat dry.
- Cook bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove, drain on paper towels, and crumble.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook, whisking constantly, for 1-2 minutes until golden. Gradually whisk in milk and cook, whisking frequently, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Arrange blanched broccoli in the prepared baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over the broccoli. Sprinkle crumbled bacon on top and an additional 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
